Dorwest visits The Cinnamon Trust

Dorwest visits The Cinnamon Trust

Amy Matthews |

This summer, our Digital Marketing Lead Amy visited The Cinnamon Trust’s Hillside Farm Sanctuary in Devon to see first-hand the incredible work the charity does and to present a large donation from the Dorwest Foundation, alongside a selection of Dorwest products to support the animals in their care.

The Cinnamon Trust is a charity very close to our hearts, helping older people and those with a terminal illness to continue enjoying the companionship of their pets. For us, supporting The Cinnamon Trust goes far beyond a financial donation. It is about helping a charity that shares our belief that pets deserve the very best care, comfort and quality of life at every stage.

A visit to Hillside Farm Sanctuary

Set within 27 acres of Devon countryside, Hillside Farm Sanctuary provides a home-from-home environment for dogs, cats and a variety of other animals, including horses, sheep, ducks and chickens.

From the moment Amy arrived, it was clear just how much care goes into every aspect of sanctuary life.

For pets entrusted to The Cinnamon Trust, the team always seeks the home that best suits their individual needs. Depending on their age and health, some are placed with dedicated forever fosterers, while others are welcomed into one of the charity’s sanctuaries.

For pets with more complex care needs, the sanctuary can become their forever home, with live-in staff providing tailored care, companionship and comfort for the rest of their lives.

Many of the animals at Hillside are older or living with ongoing health conditions, so their routines are designed around their individual wellbeing. The dogs share cosy living spaces with sofas and beds, enjoy walks through the extensive grounds and have access to a sensory herb garden for natural enrichment.

They are also treated to home-cooked meals, with Dorwest supplements incorporated into the care of some residents where appropriate.

Meeting the residents

During her visit, Amy had the chance to meet some of the dogs who call Hillside home, each with their own story, personality and daily routine.

Meet Mali

Mali is a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who arrived at Hillside with her companion, Dido, after staying by her owner’s side until she passed away peacefully at home with support from The Cinnamon Trust.

Affectionate and full of character, Mali loves food, trips to the sea and likes to be in charge of the other dogs.

Living with itchy skin and joint problems, Mali receives additional support from Dorwest products including Norwegian Salmon Oil, Turmeric Tablets and MoveWellia®.

Meet Sadie

Sadie is a 13-year-old Cairn Terrier who arrived at Hillside with her beloved dad, Bramley. After he sadly passed away, the family and dogs at the sanctuary helped her through the loss, with Scullcap & Valerian now part of her daily routine.

Bright, bossy and full of character, Sadie loves her mini sausages!

She also lives with an allergic skin condition and has undergone surgery, laser treatment and physiotherapy after rupturing the cruciate ligaments in both knees, but remains full of life.

Proud to support The Cinnamon Trust

Seeing the work of The Cinnamon Trust first-hand made us even prouder to support the charity through the Dorwest Foundation.

Every pet at Hillside has their own history and individual needs, but what they all share is a home where their comfort, happiness and wellbeing come first.

Our donation and product donation will help The Cinnamon Trust continue providing this dedicated care and support to pets and their owners when they need it most.

We’re incredibly proud to be working alongside a charity doing such important work and look forward to continuing to support The Cinnamon Trust.
