Your fireworks preparation plan

  • Step 1:

If your dog gets stressed by fireworks, we recommend giving Scullcap & Valerian one month before fireworks night for the best results. Split the daily amount between morning and evening to build up the naturally calming support during fireworks season.

  • 3 weeks to go

Create a cosy den or safe space your dog can retreat to, it’s best to let them get used to it well before fireworks begin. A pet crate covered with a heavy blanket also helps block some of the noise.

  • 10 days to go

Make sure that your pet's microchip details are up to date and they are wearing a collar with an ID tag, so that if they escape, they can be quickly and safely returned to you.

  • 3 days to go

Fireworks can be unpredictable! If your dog is already showing signs of anxiety, doubling their Scullcap & Valerian dose can offer extra support and help it build up in their system. For fast-acting support when the bangs get too loud, Valerian Compound can also be given alongside their tablets.

  • On the day

When the bangs start, give Valerian Compound for fast-acting support. Stay calm and act normally to reassure your dog. Turn on plenty of background noise and stay close for extra comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started

When should I start giving my dog calming support?

For best results, we recommend starting Scullcap & Valerian Tablets at least three weeks before fireworks and giving them every day. This helps gradually build up the active calming compounds in your dog's system before the bangs begin.

Even if your dog wasn’t worried by fireworks last year, it’s still worth preparing early. Sometimes just one unexpected experience or another stressful event earlier in the year can make a dog more sensitive to the loud noises and lights during fireworks season. After all, it’s much easier to  keep your dog calm than to try and settle them once they are already hiding, shaking, panting or pacing.

Starting early gives you time to introduce calming support alongside simple preparation, such as creating a safe space and getting them used to background noise before fireworks season begins.

How does the Calming Duo work?

The Calming Duo combines two different types of support to help your dog stay calm before and during stressful situations.

Scullcap & Valerian Tablets are designed for everyday use and contain a carefully selected blend of herbs to support calm, relaxed behaviour without causing drowsiness.

Valerian Compound is fast acting and can help calm within around 30 minutes, with effects lasting for up to two hours, making it useful for one-off stressful situations or as an additional top-up alongside the tablets.

Together, they provide ongoing daily calming support throughout fireworks season, with fast-acting support available when you need it most.
