There are many types of bacterial and viral infections which can occur almost anywhere and vary in severity. Serious ones such as distemper, kennel cough, parvovirus, cat flu and FUTD require veterinary treatment but minor and chronic infections can be effectively controlled with herbal medicine. It is particularly useful to help prevent recurrence of those minor but frequent infections that can be difficult to eliminate and may also be used alongside conventional medication. It is useful to know the signs of an infection being present and these are a high temperature, heat at the site and swelling or inflammation. Always remember that if your pet has a high temperature or one that lasts more than 24 hours, or if you are in any doubt about the seriousness of a condition or if it fails to improve after treatment, you should always seek veterinary advice.
