Pancreatic Insufficiency in Dogs

Some breeds of dog seem to be more susceptible to this than others but in all cases we advise that it is treated in consultation with your veterinary surgeon. However, there are certain foods that are helpful in compensating for the maldigestion and diarrhoea that occurs.

Tree Barks Powder is a herbal mixture of Slippery Elm and Poplar Barks that we developed for these types of condition. Because of its highly digestible ingredients and low fat content it is used for the reduction of acute intestinal absorptive disorders and to compensate for maldigestion. Adding it to each feed has proved to be very helpful for animals with pancreatic insufficiency as it is effective in soothing the digestive system, helps recovery from the diarrhoea that may result and in cases of chronic exocrine pancreatic insufficiency can be safely given indefinitely, if required.

Mixed Vegetable Tablets, which help to reduce acidity in the system, seem also to be beneficial for pancreatic insufficiency in dogs and should be given at the daily maintenance dosage.
